Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria suited to France - Laurent Blanc

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc says life in France suits Angel Di Maria and has backed the Argentina winger to improve in the second half of the season.

Di Maria, 27, joined PSG for €63 million in the summer after a disappointing year with Manchester United.

The former Real Madrid player took his time to settle in at the French champions but he finished the first half of the campaign strongly.

Di Maria now has six goals and nine assists in his first season in Ligue 1, as well as three Champions League goals, and Blanc says it was always likely that he would take time to adapt to life in the French capital.

"It's not illogical," Blanc told a news conference ahead of PSG's game against Bastia on Friday evening. "When a new foreign player arrives in a country that he doesn't know and where he doesn't know the language, it's not that easy.

"So I find that his acclimatisation has been good and the presence of some more South Americans has certainly helped.

"But I honestly think that the city of Paris and the French mentality suits him. That's what he's said to me anyway.

"I think his adaptation has been a lot quicker than in Manchester, for example, for numerous reasons.

"When he masters the language a bit more, he'll feel more at ease on the pitch and in everyday life. I think that will be characterised by a second half of the season that will be even better than the first."

Blanc also confirmed that he would be willing to allow attacker Hervin Ongenda, 20, to leave the club on loan this month.

He said if a good opportunity presented itself he might allow Jean-Kevin Augustin, 18, who is wanted by Reims, to do likewise.

But he believes that both Augustin, who scored in a recent friendly win over Inter Milan, and defender Presnel Kimpembe, 20, will stay at the club until the end of the season.
