Laurent Blanc hints at signing Paris Saint-Germain contract extension

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has indicated that negotiations to extend his contract at the club are going well.

Blanc is in the final year of his current deal with the French champions and has been widely tipped to stay after collecting eight trophies since taking the reins in June 2013.

In an interview with France Football published on Wednesday, the former France boss confirmed that negotiations are ongoing.

When asked whether it looked likely that he would sign a new contract soon, Blanc hinted that a positive outcome seemed probable.

"If you ask me that question again in a month, I will maybe say yes a bit more firmly," he said after being named as France Football's French Manager of the Year, ahead of national coach Didier Deschamps and Roma boss Rudi Garcia

Blanc has won back-to-back league titles since taking charge and -- with his side already 17 points clear in Ligue 1 this season -- looks certain to make it a hat trick.

But the former Marseille, Barcelona and Manchester United defender still hopes he can lead PSG to their first ever Champions League crown.

"I don't feel like I've come to the end of the project," he said. "We're missing -- and I'm missing -- something. Will it be me who gets there or someone else?

"But I hope PSG -- with me or another manager -- might win the European Cup. I'm convinced that the club will manage it."

Including his spell at Bordeaux, where he won the Ligue 1 title in 2009, Blanc has now secured 12 trophies as a club manager.

"I didn't choose this job as a manager by vocation," he said. "I came to win. As long as you win, you can continue. I committed to this career to guide clubs like PSG and to win."
