PSG manager Laurent Blanc says talks have opened for contract extension

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc said on Friday that he is in talks to extend his contract with the French champions.

Speculation has linked Jose Mourinho to a move to PSG, with the embattled Chelsea manager expressing his interest in coaching in France for years now.

Blanc's contract would is set to expire at the end of the season, but the former French international said talks are ongoing for him to stay at the Parc des Princes beyond the summer.

"We are talking with the club to extend the contract," he said on Friday. "As long as it's not done, we're in discussion. It's not a bad thing, I think."

Blanc, 50, led PSG to a domestic Treble last season, though they crashed out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals.

If Mourinho were to take over PSG, he would have a chance to become the second manager after Tomislav Ivic to win domestic leagues in five different countries.

Sources told ESPN FC last month that his camp had already reached out to PSG and Inter in case he were to be sacked by Chelsea.
