Thiago Silva hoping Cristiano Ronaldo moves to PSG in 2016

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva says he hopes the club can persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to move to the French capital next year.

Real Madrid forward Ronaldo, 30, has been the subject of persistent rumours linking him with a switch to the French champions.

The reigning Ballon d'Or winner got another taste of what life in Paris might be like during Real Madrid's 0-0 draw with PSG in the Champions League last week.

Silva, 31, is hopeful that PSG president Nassar al-Khelaifi and Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes can strike a deal to bring the Portugal captain to the Parc des Princes next season.

"Of course," Silva told L'Equipe's Saturday supplement Sport et Style. "It's better to play with him than against him.

"I hope that his agent will find a solution with our president so that he might come to play here.

"Paris Saint-Germain are the team of the moment."

Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti feels Ronaldo is unlikely to move to PSG, while one of the player's friends, Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jose Semedo, has tipped the player for a return to the English Premier League.

Before Ronaldo decides his future, Silva will be seeking to keep him quiet in the return match between the sides in Madrid on Tuesday.

"I love this player," the Brazilian defender said.

"He's had an incredible career. He did some great things at Manchester United.

"He also broke the goals record at Real Madrid. He's been good for the world of football."

PSG were criticised for failing to beat a weakened Real Madrid side in their first Group A clash.

Silva accepts that his team were below par in the first half of that game but he also believes that the talent that PSG manager Laurent Blanc has at his disposal has been underestimated.

"People talk a lot, especially journalists, but they don't know our internal quality.

"Our number one goal is the Champions League. It's important to have a dream to fulfil.

"I work every year but it's not easy to win it."
