PSG sweating on David Luiz, Kevin Trapp fitness ahead of Madrid games

Paris Saint-Germain have suffered a double blow ahead of their crucial Champions League clashes against Real Madrid after both goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and defender David Luiz picked up injuries.

Trapp, 25, could miss both of the upcoming games against Madrid after pulling a muscle in his right leg during training on Thursday morning.

There was more bad news for the Ligue 1 champions later that evening after Luiz, 28, was forced off with a knee problem during Brazil's 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat in Chile.

Following a high-profile error against Bordeaux in September, Trapp saved a penalty in an excellent display in PSG's 2-1 win over Marseille last weekend.

According to Le Parisien, an initial assessment of his problem suggests that the former Eintracht Frankfurt keeper could now be out of action for up to six weeks.

Whether the injury proves to be that serious or not, it appears certain that Trapp will miss PSG's first Champions League Group A meeting with Madrid in Paris on Oct. 21. The return game in Madrid is on Nov. 3.

Salvatore Sirigu, the French champions' first-choice keeper last season, is in line to replace Trapp.

PSG will also be anxiously awaiting further news on Luiz, who collided with Chile's Eduardo Vargas before being replaced by club teammate Marquinhos on 36 minutes.

Le Parisien says that, at the very least, Luiz is a major doubt for Brazil's next World Cup qualifier against Venezuela on Tuesday.

The paper cites Brazil's team doctor as saying that he would need to wait 24 hours before being able to reveal the extent of the injury.
