David Luiz: I was right to reject new Chelsea contract for PSG move

David Luiz has told A Bola he "made the right choice" in rejecting a contract extension from Chelsea and opting instead to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Luiz, 27, left the Blues after three-and-a-half seasons at Stamford Bridge, during which he won the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Following the completion of the 50 million-euro deal that took the Brazil international to PSG, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insisted he would miss the man, but not the player.

Luiz has claimed, however, that Chelsea had offered him the chance to remain at the club, only for him to decide his future lay in Paris rather than at Stamford Bridge.

"I made a lot of friends there. It was my decision to leave Chelsea, the club had offered me a contract extension," he said.

"I think I had come to the end of a cycle. I was very happy there, I had won two European trophies, but there comes time in a life when you have to know when to turn the page.

"I made the right choice, and I'm very happy in Paris."
