Alex hoping to stay at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Alex would like to remain with the Ligue 1 champions next season but is unsure about the club’s intentions.

Alex has been linked with a move back to Brazil.
Alex has one year remaining on his PSG contract.

Alex, who signed from Chelsea in 2012, has been linked with a return to his native Brazil, but the 31-year-old is not seeking a transfer.

“I have another year on my contract and of course I want to stay at PSG,” he told L’Equipe. “I have many friends here and I want to continue.”

Asked if he was certain he would stay, he replied: “I don’t know. It also depends on the club, and I haven’t spoken to the club yet, but I want to stay.”

Alex, who was positive about the chance to play under former France centre-back Laurent Blanc, is pleased to see the club moving for the likes of Edinson Cavani this summer.

“It’s a good thing for the team if you want to do well in the Champions League,” he said. “As we saw last season, it’s not easy, so if you want to succeed then players of this type will help us.”

PSG were eliminated by Barcelona at the quarter-final stage last season.
