Palermo bring back Beppe Iachini in seventh managerial change

Beppe Iachini has been reinstated as Palermo coach in the seventh managerial change for the struggling Sicilian club this season.

Club president Maurizio Zamparini responded to a 3-1 defeat at home to Torino -- the only game led by his sixth coach of the campaign, Giovanni Bosi -- by reappointing Iachini and issuing an apology to the fans.

"It is necessary that we get the maximum support from the splendid Palermo fans, who have got to help the team with their passion and energy in this difficult time," Zamparini said in a statement on the Serie A club's official website.

"For this, I would like to ask them to pardon me for these months. I hope that not all of these bad things are destined to harm us because the chaos, also caused by my own errors of evaluation and misunderstandings with Iachini, has also allowed us to re-form a marriage with Beppe.

"I hope, with the maximum collaboration of everybody, that will bring us back the success that Palermo deserve."

Iachini was dismissed by Zamparini in November. Davide Ballardini was appointed but lasted only lasted until Jan. 11, when Fabio Viviani was appointed.

Guillermo Schelotto was then placed in charge but did not have the necessary licence and was later replaced by Giovanni Tedesco, who made way for Bosi last week.

Iachini returns to a Palermo side four points clear of the relegation zone following Sunday's defeat.
