Hernandez wants to honour Palermo deal
Palermo striker Abel Hernandez has committed himself to the club, despite the possibility of relegation to Serie B this season.
The Serie A side are currently rooted to the foot of the table and are five points adrift of safety with just nine games of the campaign to go.
But while Hernandez, 22, is likely to be a wanted man in the summer if Palermo are unable to beat the drop, the Uruguay international insists he is determined to see out the remainder of his contract.
“I want to respect the three years that I have left on my contract,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "That’s because I’d like to thank president Maurizio Zamparini and the medical staff here.
“There was a bit of a problem because my former agent did speak to other clubs about me, but I want to stay here.”
Hernandez has been out for most of the season after damaging knee ligaments, however, he is on the verge of a comeback.
“If everything goes well then I’ll return to training with my teammates on Monday,” he said. “I should be back in action two weeks later.”
