Camp allowed to leave Forest

Lee Camp has been given permission to leave Nottingham Forest by manager Alex McLeish.

The Northern Ireland international goalkeeper has been number one at the City Ground since 2009 making over 150 appearances. Hull and Ipswich have been linked.

"I told Lee that he could speak to his agent about finding another club," McLeish told the club's official website. "It was face-to-face. I told him that I had to make changes and that I knew there had been some frustration between him and the club over a period of time.

"I said that I wanted to bring a goalkeeper in and that I thought it wouldn't be right for a man of his stature to be sitting on the bench as number two.”

Karl Darlow has been recalled from a loan spell at Walsall and he is in line to play for Forest in their league fixture against Peterborough on Saturday.

"I sought the reassurance of my coaches about Karl Darlow,” McLeish continued. “He will play until we get an experienced goalkeeper in. We're confident about him - he's 22 years of age, there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to cope.

"The only thing against him is his lack of experience but Blackburn threw a boy (Jake Kean) in ahead of Paul Robinson http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gifa couple of weeks ago and he has never looked back.

"We've got the same high hopes for Darlow. It's a great chance for him. We're looking for him to show the same level of confidence as he does in training and as he did in his recent games for Walsall - two shut-outs."

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green has been linked as a potential replacement for Camp at Forest but he told talkSPORT that he has not heard anything about a potential move to the Championship club.

He said: "This is the first I've heard about Nottingham Forest. I don't know anything about it."
