Norwich 'turn down Blues bid for Ruddy'

Norwich have rejected a £5 million bid from Chelsea for goalkeeper John Ruddy and would want double that to sell him, the Sun has reported.

The paper said returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring England international Ruddy, 26, to Stamford Bridge as back-up for first choice Peter Cech.

The goalkeeper, who has been a star performer for the Canaries since arriving from Everton for £400,000 when they were in the Championship three seasons ago, missed around half of last season through injury.

He returned to the first team as Norwich secured Premier League safety with a 4-0 Carrow Road win against West Brom in the penultimate game of the campaign.

Ruddy made his England debut in a 2-1 friendly win against Italy in Switzerland ten months ago, and Norwich boss Chris Hughton would be reluctant to lose such a key player.
