Martin Odegaard's father joins Real Madrid as youth coach

New Real Madrid signing Martin Odegaard was introduced to the media on Thursday.
The ESPN FC crew discuss the learning opportunity that 16-year-old Martin Odegaard will be afforded at Real Madrid and look ahead to what the future may have in store for the young Norwegian international.

Martin Odegaard's father is also joining Real Madrid as part of the deal which has seen the Norwegian starlet move to the Bernabeu.

Odegaard, who just recently turned 16 but is already a senior international with his country, finally chose to join Madrid after being courted through recent months by a long list of Europe's top clubs reportedly including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton and Ajax.

New Real Madrid signing Martin Odegaard was introduced to the media on Thursday.

Martin Odegaard has said he believes joining Real Madrid was "the best option" as he was presented by his new club.

Odegaard, 16, had been courted by many of Europe's leading clubs and spent time with Liverpool and Bayern Munich in recent weeks, but Madrid announced on Wednesday that they had agreed a deal to sign the Norway international from Stromsgodset.

Martin Odegaard close to €4m move to Real Madrid, report says

Real Madrid will pay Stromsgodset a fee of around four million euros for highly-rated youngster Martin Odegaard, according to AS.

Odegaard, 16, arrived in the Spanish capital on Tuesday to conclude his move, and was at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday to watch the Copa del Rey clash between Atletico Madrid and Real.

He trained with the club's reserves in Valdebebas on Thursday and got to meet several first-team players, while he is expected to attend Friday's training session with Castilla.
