North and South Korean women's teams draw Pyongyang qualifier

The two teams and match officials line up before kick-off in Pynogyang.

The North and South Korean women's football teams drew 1-1 in their first-ever meeting to be hosted by the North.

The AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifier, played in the capital, Pyongyang, saw a crowd of more than 40,000 in attendance.

South Korea had demanded security guarantees for their players before officials approved the trip.

The match followed a game between the North and South Korean women's ice hockey teams in Gangneung, South Korea, on Thursday.

North Korea's women's football team are ranked 10th in the world by FIFA, with their neighbours in 17th place, and are three-time winners of the Women's Asian Cup.

But they failed to record a win over their neighbours, missing a penalty early on before Sung Hyang-Sim struck to give them the lead in first-half injury time.

Jang Seul-Gi levelled inside the final quarter of an hour following a goalmouth scramble.
