FC Dallas won the U.S. Open Cup last year.

The Chicago Fire, Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew SC will open the U.S. Open Cup on the road against lower-division opponents, as the sites for the fourth round were decided on Thursday.

The matchups for the fourth round, to be played in June, are based geographically, and lower-division teams must meet stadium criteria to host MLS clubs.

NASL to add Orange County club, sues Fort Lauderdale Strikers

A curling Cosmos free-kick, and an acrobatic scissor volley split the points between New York and Jacksonville in NASL.

A new club in Orange County, California, will join the North American Soccer League in 2018, the organization announced on Wednesday, the same day it sued the dormant Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The addition of the new California team, owned by businessman Pete Capriotti, will be the league's second team on the West Coast after the San Francisco Deltas began play this year.

Plans for new Canadian Premier League approved

Fans in Canada could soon have their own Canadian Premier League.

Plans for a Canadian Premier League were approved by the country's soccer leaders this weekend, with founding cities announced for Hamilton and Winnipeg.

The league was officially unveiled at the Canadian Soccer Association's annual meeting, which also saw Steve Reed elected as president.

Though only two teams were initially revealed, Canada Soccer said they have heard from 10 cities interested in joining an all-Canadian league, with aims to begin playing as early as 2018.
