Minnesota United's group has inside track for MLS expansion, reports say

Minnesota United, which features U.S. international Miguel Ibarra, are in line to join MLS.

A prospective ownership group for an MLS expansion team in Minneapolis headed by Minnesota United owner Bill McGuire has the inside track on becoming MLS' 23rd team, according to multiple reports.

American Soccer Now reported on Wednesday that McGuire's consortium -- which includes the Pohlad family, owners of Major League Baseball's Twins, as well as Glen Taylor, owner of the NBA's Timberwolves -- is the preferred bidder for a Minnesota team, as opposed to a competing bid headed by the Wilf family,...

Mexican Football Federation president Justino Compean offered a 'partnership' with an MLS team in San Antonio.

As MLS decides where to place its latest expansion team, the president of the Mexican Football Federation has thrown his organization's support behind San Antonio, Texas.

Former Brazil international Ronaldo has said he is set to make a playing comeback with Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The 38-year-old, who retired from the game in 2011 after playing for Corinthians, became a part-owner of the North American Soccer League side in December.

The ex-Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan forward hinted last month that playing for the Strikers in the future was a possibility, and he is now confident that a return to action is on the cards.

Miguel Ibarra's U.S. rise has opened up questions about his future in the NASL

United States Men's National team head coach, Jurgen Klinsmann notes that he remains optimistic for the future of the USMNT despite the disappointing run of recent results.

Miguel Ibarra meteoric ascension to the U.S. national team has led to interest from MLS clubs and the midfielder has also expressed an interest in playing in Liga MX.

Miguel Ibarra can't stop his head from spinning.

Four months ago Ibarra was essentially an unknown, at least outside of those circles that follow the North American Soccer League and his club, Minnesota United FC. Now after making his first international start for the U.S. in last weekend's 2-0 win over Panama, Ibarra finds his profile increasing at light speed.

"Everything is coming out of nowhere," he told ESPN FC via telephone. "Everything is surprising to me, coming so fast. So far I think I've...
