Nigeria call five home-based players for Liberia friendly

Gernot Rohr has invited five home-based professionals ahead of the Super Eagles' international friendly against Liberia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia on Tuesday.

Three of the players are drawn from CAF Confederation Cup campaigners and seven-time Nigeria league champions Enyimba (Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Mfon Udoh and Sunday Adetunji), while FC Ifeanyi Ubah (Adeleye Olamilekan) and League champions Lobi Stars (Ebube Duru) contribute one apiece.

Ezenwa, who was a part of Nigeria's victorious team to Seychelles at the weekend, is one of two goalkeepers listed in the squad, while prolific forward Udoh returns to the international fold following a three-year absence; his last appearance coming against Uganda in Uyo.

Duru, an exciting left-back who was one of the Super Eagles B team's standout performers against Atletico Madrid, is tipped as a potential contender for a position which has suddenly seen the team struggle with natural options.

The duo of Adetunji and Olamilekan will also be keen to impress as they earn a first-ever call-up to the international fold.

The five players make up a list of 18 players that are billed to honour a game which is earmarked in celebration of Liberian President and former World Footballer of the Year, George Weah.
