Joel Obi returns for Super Eagles

Nearly four years after his last game, Joel Obi has been handed a chance to break into Nigeria's 2018 World Cup party with a recall by Gernot Rohr.

The talented Torino midfielder, whose career has suffered from a succession of injuries, is one of 28 players called up for two friendlies against Poland and Serbia at the end of the month.

Al Ahly's Junior Ajayi is an expected first time call-up after his exploits with the Egyptian giants, while goalkeeper Francis Uzoho returns for the second successive squad gathering.

Nigeria's CHAN Eagles are represented in the squad by Stephen Ezeh and Gabriel Okechukwu.

World Cup-bound Nigeria play Poland at the 43 000-seater Stadium Wroclaw on 23 March, before heading off to London for the clash with Serbia four days later.

These are the first two of six friendly encounters planned for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the World Cup finals in Russia this summer.
