Kenneth Omeruo captains Chelsea to Crawley Town draw

Kenneth Omeruo captained a Chelsea team featuring mostly development players and a few loan returnees to a 1-1 draw at Crawley Town on Saturday.

The Nigeria international joined the English champions in 2012, but has yet to make an official appearance for the Blues, having spent his entire Chelsea career out on loan.

Since 2012, Omeruo has been loaned to ADO Den Haag in Holland, Middlesbrough in the English Championship, Kasimpasa and last season was at Alanyaspor in Turkey.

Although he has returned to his parent club again for pre-season, the Nigeria defender was not included in the main first team squad which won 8-2 against Fulham at the club's Cobham training ground on the same day, suggesting he could be on his way to another loan move.

Omeruo, who has made 31 appearances for Nigeria, played for 71 minutes before he was replaced by Richard Nartey.
