6 Super Eagles with points to prove during the international week

This international window will see Nigeria play a pair of friendly matches against testing African opposition in Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Apart from a few isolated rumblings about the lack of local league players called up, Gernot Rohr's squad has been generally well received by fans and media in what is a marked departure from the past, where every list of call-ups was questioned.

But there are some players who will still need to convince watchers, like these six ....

TYRONNE EBUEHI
Tyronne EbuehiIn his so far unending search for a permanent solution to his right-back Godian knot, Rohr invited Tyronne Ebuehi for Nigeria's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia, but the youngster put himself under undue pressure by turning down his invitation to the national team. That ill-advised move left many questioning his talent and whether he should even have been called up in the first place, let alone be given a second chance. As a result, the 21-year-old ADO Den Haag defender will have to prove to Nigerians that he was worth the hype. And the invitation.

WILFRED NDIDI
Filling the boots of a player who was instrumental to winning a league title can never be easy. Wilfred Ndidi has not only done so with ease, but is all but tearing it up in the Premier League, where he has walked into the Leicester first team without a hassle. Having previously been used a stop gap at right-back, captain John Mikel Obi's absence means he now has a chance to show that can cement his place as a proper midfield player.

AHMED MUSA
Where Ndidi is soaring at Leicester, Super Eagles assistant captain Ahmed Musa has seen his stock plummet as he struggles with indifferent form. Nigeria's green white green has lifted many players when they've been down, and as vice-captain, Musa may win a start, and a chance to show that his fleet feet can still prove decisive for Nigeria - and possibly other clubs interested in ending his Leicester misery in the summer.

CHIDOZIE AWAZIEM
Nigeria do not concede many goals, yet there is a perception that the defence is a the weakest part of the team chain. That perception might be due to the rotational injury worries of both Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo. Porto's Chidozie Awaziem has impressed since moving to the European club from El Kanemi Juniors Academy in Jos, and breaking into the first team within a year! Forever hyped by fans, this could be a chance for the youngster to either dislodge at least one body from that back-four, or set himself up as competent cover.

ISAAC SUCCESS
Like Ebuehi, Success did not show up for his first call-up, stirring up some controversy in the process, with reports quoting an unnamed NFF official as saying he turned down the call over a flight ticket issue, despite the player and his insisting it was down to injury. He stormed his way through the Under-17 World Cup, and impressed enough at Granada to earn a move to Watford. While has not exactly lit up the Premiership, Success has the physical presence and goalscoring instinct to be a force in international football, but that bit of flap means many will be watching to see how he gets on.

JOHN OGU
At 28, not only is John Ogu still not quite the elder statesman he should be in the squad, he has neither that much time nor that many games to cement his place as a regular in the team. A calm, deliberate and technical disruptor, Ogu plays with a languid, economical style that is as unhurried as it is pleasing. But in a squad of fleet-footed players, that style might be a tad antiquated, which may explain his irregular appearances. However, after an impressive season in both domestic competition and Europa League, these pair of games present opportunities for him to make a serious claim, especially with Mikel absent and a posse of youngsters exuding talent and energy.
