Pijpers quits Willem II

April 23, 2010

Arno Pijpers has left his role as head coach of relegation-threatened Willem II with immediate effect due to poor health.

Pijpers, who was 50 this week, has opted to retire on medical advice, with Willem II poised to take part in the relegation play-offs at the end of the Eredivisie season.

A statement on the club's official website read: "To the great disappointment of Willem II and Arno Pijpers, his work with the club comes to an end today.

"In the interest of William II and his health, Arno Pijpers has decided to terminate his work immediately.

"Arno Pijpers does not feel healthy. For this reason, he does not have the necessary energy and spirit to accompany the players and prepare for the next challenge which is so very important for the club."
