Chief executive Peter Kenyon has suggested that Robinho is close to joining Chelsea, saying that the Brazilian will give Luiz Felipe Scolari's side 'an added dimension' if he moves to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.
Robinho's agent has Wagner Ribeiro had said on Tuesday that the Real Madrid winger was headed for the London club. The fee is supposed to be around the £25m mark to conclude a summer of wrangling.
Kenyon told Sky Sports News: 'Scolari identified two targets when we appointed him as manager. One was Deco and the other was Robinho. Everyone has seen the impact that Deco has had on the Premier League.
'I think the squad is capable of competing without Robinho but with him will give us an added dimension.'
