Inter midfielder Dacourt needs knee surgery

December 3, 2007

MILAN, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Inter Milan midfielder Olivier Dacourt must undergo minor surgery on a knee injury, the Italian champions said on Monday.

The Frenchman suffered ligament damage in Sunday's 2-0 win at Fiorentina and will have arthroscopic surgery, Inter's website said.

The club gave no indication of recovery time but media said Dacourt would be out for at least 40 days.

Inter have been hit by a series of injuries to midfielders this season but are three points clear at the top of Serie A and have qualified for the Champions League last 16.

Luis Figo and Patrick Vieira are out with long-term injuries while Dejan Stankovic has only just returned to action.
