Cardone faces six months out with knee injury

ROME, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Parma defender Giuseppe Cardone could miss the rest of the season after damaging the cruciate ligaments in his left knee during training, the Serie A club said.

Cardone, who is expected to be out of action for about six months, was Parma's captain until being pushed back to the bench this season.

The 32-year-old has, however, started twice for the Italian side in the UEFA Cup, in the away leg of their first-round tie against Ruben Kazan and the 2-1 victory over Odense in their opening Group D match.

Parma are 15th out of 20 teams in Serie A with eight points, 16 behind joint leaders Inter Milan and Palermo.
