Brest defender Bernard Mendy joked that he would use "baseball bats and dogs" to stop Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic when the clubs meet in Brittany on Friday evening.

Former PSG player Mendy, 31, said he would face a challenge to keep 17-goal Ibrahimovic, Ligue 1's top scorer, quiet as Carlo Ancelotti's side attempt to ensure they will be top of the table for the winter break.

"If we have to put a reducer in on Zlatan, I'll be first in the queue," he said. "He's a black belt in taekwondo, but I have baseball bats and dogs in the car.

"Joking aside, it's a good game for us to test ourselves. When I played for PSG, opponents were always more motivated. We'll be the same."

Mendy played more than 100 Ligue 1 games for PSG before pursuing his career in England at Hull City and then in Denmark with Odense, returning to France to join Brest last summer.

"I played in Paris for seven years, and I'm still a fan, especially against Marseille," the former France international said. "Whatever happens, I'm right behind PSG.

"I don't know what I'll do on Friday. There will be a lot of emotion."
