Quaresma, 29, failed to settle in Turkey following his move from Inter Milan in 2010 and has often spoken of his desire to leave.

Indeed the Portugal international, who has played for the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and FC Porto during an inconsistent career, was let go after Besiktas announced on their website that following amicable talks they paid up the remainder of his three-year deal - a sum of €1.48 million.

Liverpool have immediately been linked with a move for him as he is now available on a free transfer.
