Arfa agent denies Qatar exit rumours

Hatem Ben Arfa's agent has denied his client will quit Newcastle United for Qatar, and insisted that he 'intends to continue playing in Europe'.

Ben Arfa, 27, is out of contract at St James's Park next summer, and with the Magpies unhappy with the French international's fitness and form last season, he had been tipped to leave.

Qatari clubs Lekhwiya and Al Sadd have both been linked to the talented but temperamental midfielder, who contributed just three goals and as many assists in 27 fitful Premier League appearances last season.

However, agent Michel Ouazine told L'Equipe the former Lyon and Marseille man would not be heading to the nation that will host the 2022 World Cup.

"That's false. Hatem has a year left on his contract at Newcastle, and he intends to continue playing in Europe."
