Jets re-sign two local A-League products
The Newcastle Jets have secured local products Taylor Regan and Andrew Hoole until the end of the 2014/2015 A-League season.
The pair have agreed to one-year contract extensions, the club announced on Friday.
Regan was one of the first graduates of the Jets' youth team to earn a senior contract and has played 39 games for the club since his debut in round 10 of the 2010/2011 season.
The 24-year-old defender said he loves playing for the Jets and has never wanted to leave the club.
"Extending my contract for another year gives me that little bit of security and allows me to concentrate solely on football," Regan said in a statement.
"This year I know I have to step up and be more of a leader in this squad and that's something I've been trying to do throughout the pre-season.
"I plan on having a big season and hopefully as a team and as a club we can really start moving forward, because I think there is a lot of potential here to do that."
Hoole has only played eight matches for the Jets during the 2012/2013 A-League campaign, but earned a call-up to the Young Socceroos squad for this year's Under-20s World Cup in Turkey.
The 19-year-old said it was an honour to get an extension on his first professional contract.
"It's great knowing I'll be here for another season, but I cant afford to rest on my laurels," he said.
"Now it's up to me to repay the faith the club has shown in me by building on what I did towards the end of last season."
Jets coach Gary van Egmond said the upcoming A-League was important for both players, who were looking to improve and stamp their authority in the competition.
