New York City FC midfielder Andrea Pirlo has hailed the communal aspects of his MLS adventure, telling Sky Sport Italia "the victory comes second" to the fan experience at league venues. Pirlo moved from Juventus to NYCFC last summer, joining Frank Lampard and David Villa on a star-studded side in the U.S.'s top media market. The 37-year-old ex-Italy international has since helped City ascend to the top of the Eastern Conference in 2016. And he discussed the adjustments he's had to make since moving from the bright lights of Europe. "It was a new league for me, but above all I wanted to come to America," Pirlo, a 2006 World Cup winner with Italy, said. "It represents a new and different experience for me in a state that fascinated me. I also got the opportunity to study a new language. "Football is on the ascendancy here and I decided to come and play a part of it. I love the style of sport in America. Here you come to the stadium with your family and the victory comes second. "What counts first and foremost is the sense of people coming together." NYCFC next play on Sunday, Oct. 16 against fellow East contender D.C. United in the U.S. capital.
