Netherlands' Wesley Sneijder ruled out for France clash with hamstring injury

Wesley Sneijder will miss Netherlands' World Cup qualifier against France on Monday with a hamstring injury suffered in the squad's 4-1 defeat of Belarus midweek.

Netherlands boss Danny Blind had hinted after the match with Belarus that Sneijder could miss the game with the Euro 2016 runners-up, and confirmed the Galatasaray man's absence on Sunday.

Blind also confirmed that the former Inter Milan and Ajax star would leave the squad to join his club before Monday's clash.

"He will remain with us until Monday morning," Blind told a news conference.

"I have asked him [to stay] -- he can encourage us. But on matchday he is no longer necessary. He will leave after breakfast."

Netherlands currently sit top of Group A, which includes France and Sweden, with four points from two matches.
