Van Gaal to trial new blood in friendly

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has hinted the door to his World Cup squad remains open by selecting five uncapped players in a provisional 33-man group for the friendly against France.

Karim Rekik is a Netherlands Under-19 international signed from Feyenoord
Rekik formerly plied his trade at Man City.

Van Gaal's team will tackle France in Paris on March 5, when forwards Jean-Paul Boetius and Quincy Promes, midfielders Davy Klaassen and Davy Propper, and defender Karim Rekik, will hope to be involved for the first time.

Feyenoord winger Boetius and Rekik, who is on loan from Manchester City to PSV Eindhoven, are the youngest of the quintet, with both players just 19 years old. Van Gaal has also selected six goalkeepers for the fixture.

Omitted by Van Gaal was Dynamo Kiev forward Jeremain Lens, his punishment for being sent off in the friendly against Colombia in November.
