Napoli midfielder Allan suffers groin injury, facing further scans

Napoli will be without Allan for the immediate future after the midfielder sustained a groin injury during last weekend's clash with Chievo.

Allan, 26, suffered a left adductor muscle injury during Sunday's 3-1 Serie A victory at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi and the Brazilian could miss crucial games for Maurizio Sarri's side.

Napoli face holders Juventus in the Coppa Italia next Tuesday and then turn their attention to the Champions League round of 16 second leg clash with Real Madrid on March 7.

Allan underwent scans on Tuesday which diagnosed his injury and a statement on Napoli's official website read: "Today Allan underwent ultrasound exams which confirmed muscle distraction to the left adductor.

"The Azzurri midfielder, who picked up the injury during the match held in Verona against Chievo, will undergo treatment. In a week Allan will be visited [for further scans] again.''

Allan will definitely miss Saturday's Serie A match at home to Atalanta with the following weekend's trip to fellow high-flyers Roma also in doubt.
