Marek Hamsik could be Napoli director when playing days are over - agent

Marek Hamsik could move into a directorial role at Napoli when his playing career ends, his agent has said.

Juraj Venglos said he did not see why the 29-year-old would leave Naples when he calls time on his playing days and said becoming a director, as Javier Zanetti did at Inter Milan, was possible.

"It's still soon because he's only 29 and everything is still possible, but why not?" he told Radio CRC.

"Hamsik could be Napoli's Zanetti. He would like the prospect of remaining as a director. Hamsik has Slovakia and Napoli in his heart."

Slovakia international midfielder Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in 2007 and became their youngest-ever captain three years later.

On Thursday, he thanked the fans who had travelled to Istanbul to see them draw 1-1 with Besiktas in the Champions League.

"I really do appreciate a lot the fans who travelled all the way to Istanbul," he wrote on his website.

"I am sure they returned home happy. We need to continue with good performances like in our recent games."
