Diego Maradona backs Manolo Gabbiadini to fill Arkadiusz Milik void

Diego Maradona says Manolo Gabbiadini's moment has come as he prepares to fill the void left by Arkadiusz Milik this weekend against Roma.

Milik has been ruled out for six months after tearing knee ligaments while on international duty with Poland. Napoli are reportedly considering drafting in an out-of-contract player such as Miroslav Klose to take his place while he recovers, but Maradona hopes that Gabbiadini will now get to show his worth, and that the whole team is set to benefit.

"I am convinced that Napoli can beat Juventus this year, particularly if Gabbiadini can find his form," Maradona said at the Game of Peace in Rome on Wednesday. "Just watch Napoli beat Roma at the weekend."

That clash is not only Gabbiadini's first opportunity to convince Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri to place his faith in him rather than scouring the market of unemployed forwards, it is also a game which will "determine who will challenge Juve this season," according to Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Antonio Di Natale, who is without a club after leaving Udinese in the summer, has ruled himself out of the running to provide cover.

"I wouldn't be of any use," the 39-year-old is reported by Itasportpress.it as saying: "Napoli have got plenty of good players who will replace [Milik] better than I could. It's going to be a great game between Napoli and Roma, two sides who play very good football."
