Napoli captain Marek Hamsik has his sights firmly set on winning more silverware next season having clinched the Coppa Italia this term.

Hamsik, 26, believes the Serie A club have a bright future and that they will soon be delivering even greater results than they have done recently.

After finishing second last season and third this year -- as well as securing the Coppa Italia -- the Slovakia international now wants the Partenopei to challenge for the scudetto next term.

"We've won the cup and finished third in Serie A, even though we could have done even better in the league," Hamsik told Radio Kiss Kiss. "But at least we've qualified for the Champions League.

"I've been here for seven years and the club's always looking to improve, and we're managing that. I hope we can win something big next season."

Hamsik has come in for some criticism this season with his performances not always living up to some of the standards he had set previously.

Injuries have also set the midfielder back, but he still hopes to be part of a collective improvement next year, while he has no plans to leave Naples any time soon.

"If we win the scudetto as a team, then people will also talk about me having finally made it too," he said. "I believe in the project we've got and there is everything I need here."

Hamsik will have the whole of the summer to recharge his batteries since Slovakia failed to qualify for the World Cup, but he will be rooting for some of his teammates in Brazil.

"[Lorenzo] Insigne deserves to be called up for what he's done this season," Hamsik said. "I hope he makes [Italy coach Cesare] Prandelli's final 23-man squad.

"I'd say Brazil are favourites with their home advantage, then come Spain and Germany. I'd put Argentina right behind them."
