De Laurentiis threatens move

La Gazzetta dello Sport said that De Laurentiis had already given short-shrift to a journalist before getting into a minibus to leave the venue. After hearing the insults of a fan, he got out of the vehicle and confronted him.

"We were outside the main stand and we wanted to ask De Laurentiis a question," RAI reporter Alessandro Antinelli said. "The Azzurri boss gave us a bland reply and closed himself into the car. Then, responding to the criticism of a Napoli fan, he got out again and that's where the altercation started."

De Laurentiis' entourage accompanied him back to the minibus and he left the scene, visibly angry. Whether it was the confrontation or his side's performance which had upset him was not clear, but Napoli coach Rafael Benitez admitted he too was frustrated with his team's performance, coming a week after they became only the second side to beat Juventus in the league this season.

"We've still got a long way to go before we're at the top, also in terms of our mentality," he told Sky Sport. "It's a very positive season between the league and the cups, but we're still lacking something."

According to Sky, that was the sentiment of the disgruntled supporter who confronted the president with the claim that his team only raise their game for the big occasions.
