Napoli sign Armero on loan

Napoli have agreed a loan deal to sign Udinese wingback Pablo Armero, while they will release Andrea Dossena to Palermo.

Armero, 26, has been a long-term target for the southern club, who view him as the perfect foil for Christian Maggio.

Napoli revealed on Wednesday evening that an agreement had been reached with Udinese for the player, who has represented Colombia on 30 occasions. A statement on their website announced that Armero will arrive on loan with an option for co-ownership in June, while he will undergo a medical on Thursday.

The statement read: “Napoli announce it has agreed a deal with Udinese for the transfer of Pablo Armero into the Azzurri shirt. The left-winger arrives on loan with an option to buy half his contract at the end of the season. Tomorrow Armero will undergo his medical after which the deal will be definitively formalised.”

Subsequently, Dossena, 31, will move on to Palermo, following team-mate Salvatore Aronica, who made the same switch earlier this week.

“Yes, Napoli have given me the all-clear to join Palermo,” Dossena told Stadionews. “I am happy with this new experience and hope to immediately be at the disposal of coach Gian Piero Gasperini.”
