Minnesota midfielder Kevin Molino to miss rest of season with torn ACL

Ethan Finlay scored a late winner to seal a victory for Minnesota United manager Adrian Heath on his return to his former club.

Minnesota United midfielder Kevin Molino is expected to miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, the club confirmed on Monday.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury to his left knee in the Loons' 2-1 win at Orlando City on Saturday, being stretchered off in the 51st minute. He's scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.

Molino spent six seasons in Orlando, between the club's USL iteration and its first two years in MLS. In May of the club's inaugural season in the U.S. and Canada's top flight, he tore the ACL in his right knee, missing the remainder of that season.

Prior to Saturday's injury, Molino had been central to Minnesota's attack, scoring both goals in a 3-2 loss at San Jose in the opening weekend, and assisting on the Loons' opener in Orlando.

The Trinidad and Tobago international registered seven goals and nine assists in Minnesota's debut campaign in MLS, and 11 goals and eight assists in his lone healthy MLS season in Orlando.
