Middlesbrough charged by FA for failing to control players vs. Man City

Middlesbrough have been charged by the Football Association for failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.

A number of Middlesbrough players reacted after City were awarded a penalty in the second half, complaining that Leroy Sane went down under the challenge of Marten de Roon too easily.

Sergio Aguero scored the resulting penalty to level the game at 1-1, with City again coming from behind to secure the 2-2 draw through an 85th-minute equaliser from Gabriel Jesus -- a result that left Middlesbrough six points adrift of safety with three games of the Premier League season to go.

An FA statement read: "Middlesbrough have been charged for misconduct following the game against Manchester City on Sunday [30 April 2017].

"It is alleged that in or around the 66th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

"The club have until 6pm on 5 May 2017 to respond to the charge."
