Argentina-born Lucas Lobos will not join El Tri for its friendly versus Finland "for personal reasons," but will in all likelihood be included on the team for its crucial World Cup qualifying intercontinental playoff versus New Zealand Nov. 13 and 19, El Tri coach Miguel “Piojo” Herrera said on TV Azteca Wednesday night.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who plays for Tigres in the Mexican League, got his first recall from former El Tri coach Victor Manuel Vucetich for the CONCACAF qualifiers vs. Panama and Costa Rica.
Mexico plays a friendly versus Finland on Oct. 31. Herrera also said that Argentine-born Club America midfielder Rubens Sambueza will only need permission from FIFA to be naturalized for Mexico and that football federation team director Hector Gonzalez Inarritu has the request in process.
