Ricardo La Volpe interested in coaching Mexico again

Ricardo Antonio La Volpe said he has had no contact with the Mexico Football Federation regarding a candidacy for the country's open coaching job, despite having put himself up for consideration.

La Volpe on Tuesday told ESPN that he regrets his past errors and would be willing to coach El Tri again.

"No one has spoken to me, however, who wouldn't like to coach the national team," said the Argentinian, who coached Mexico leading up to and at the 2006 World Cup and also coached Costa Rica in 2010-11.

La Volpe has coached extensively in Liga Mx and is currently coaching Jaguares (Chiapas). They face Cruz Azul on Wednesday.

Asked whether he would be willing to take on Mexico's national team in an interim role, La Volpe said: "What is that? I don't know what that is. How would I leave a club I am coaching for one match? It would be something that would have to be discussed with the coaches and I would have to understand the reasons why."
