Erick 'Cubo' Torres says he's innocent after report of abuse complaint

Chivas striker Erick "Cubo" Torres has maintained his innocence and vowed to cooperate with authorities in a bid to clear his name following a reported sexual abuse complaint.

Guadalajara newspaper Cancha reported on Saturday that it had seen an official police complaint that accused Torres of misconduct in the early hours of April 23.

Torres, a Mexico international who is loan at Chivas from MLS club Houston Dynamo, defended himself after training on Saturday.

"I'm the first person interested in clearing this up as quickly as possible," he said in a statement, with no follow-up questions allowed. "I'm prepared to collaborate with the corresponding authorities."

The 22-year-old added: "I'd never do anything that wasn't with the mutual consent of the other person."

The alleged incident took place one day after Chivas lost the Copa MX final to Puebla and four days before the Clasico Nacional against Club America, in a party at a motel on the outskirts of Guadalajara's metropolitan area with other Chivas players in attendance, according to the report.

Chivas president Nestor de la Torre backed his player.

"'El Cubo' Erick Torres, like all the players, has the support of the institution on and off the field," said De la Torre.

Torres was an unused substitute for Chivas in their 4-1 win over Atlas on Sunday in the Clausura quarterfinal.

The former Chivas USA star is set to join the Houston Dynamo when Chivas' season finishes and the MLS transfer window opens in July.
