Mexico to travel to Argentina for November friendlies

Mexico will travel to Argentina for a pair of friendlies on Nov. 17 and 20, Mexico national team communications director Beatriz Ramos confirmed on Wednesday.

The sites for the matches have not yet been confirmed and they will be the last games Mexico will play with interim coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti in charge.

Neither side currently have a permanent coach. The two sides last faced off in 2015 in a friendly held in the United States, where Argentina stormed back with a pair of late goals to draw Mexico 2-2.

Ramos stated that Mexico had "interviewed" 24 potential head coaches for the Mexico job and that the process is "very advanced," even though Ferretti will be in charge in November. Atlanta United's Gerardo Martino and Carlos Queiroz have been linked to the position.

The federation also announced a campaign to help eradicate violence in and around stadiums, which has been a growing problem in Mexico.

"We are willing to collaborate on every front to combat violence," said Ramos in a news conference. "'El Futbol Que Yo Quiero' [The Football that I Want] is a campaign to show our repudiation of violence. It's a call to raise awareness."

El Tri is currently preparing for Thursday's game against Costa Rica at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey and will close the October international window against Chile in Queretaro next Tuesday.
