Tigres coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti believes Liga MX players could learn from their Liga MX Femenil counterparts in cutting out playacting, after a wave of high-profile and contentious red cards this past weekend. Ferretti's team lost 2-1 at home to Toluca on Saturday evening after first Guido Pizarro and then Javier Aquino were sent off for the home side. Tigres are appealing Pizarro's red card for hitting Toluca forward Luis "Quick" Mendoza, who approached from behind, in the face, with the club claiming it was an accidental clash. Mendoza dropped to the floor after feeling the impact of Pizarro's hand in the first half, with the incident coming just five minutes after Toluca's Enrique Triverio had busted open Tigres defender Jorge Torres Nilo's face in a similar play, for which Triverio was only booked. "The girls go up to their teammates that are being theatrical and say: 'Get up, stop being a man!'" Said Ferretti in a news conference on Sunday. "If you compare their football to ours, we [males] drop at any little thing. "We are theatrical, they clip us and it's like they amputated a leg, it's honestly very characteristic of our Latin football." Triverio admitted after the game that Pizarro didn't deserve to be sent off, something Ferretti also picked up on. "Triverio was honest after the game in saying that it wasn't a red card, but he missed a big opportunity to win the FIFA Fair Play award because if during the game he'd have said 'ref, it wasn't a sending off,' it would be the best example of fair play in our Mexican football." Cruz Azul also appealed a red card for center-back Pablo Aguilar, who was also sent off for a debatable elbow in his team's 1-1 tie with Club Tijuana.
