Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha cleared of injury in FFA Cup

Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha has been cleared of injury after limping off in his sides 3-1 win over Newcastle Jets in another dramatic evening in the FFA Cup.

Wednesday night's drama was headlined by Adelaide United's shock elimination against part-timers Redlands United.

The prolific Berisha scored after just five minutes but raised concerns for coach Kevin Muscat when he exited the match midway through the first half.

The club, however, confirmed post-match that Berisha was taken off as a precaution after suffering from stomach cramps.

While the cup holders advanced to the last 16, A-League champions Adelaide United somehow contrived to lose 2-1 in extra-time at Perry Park in Brisbane.

Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic made a shocking error as Redlands equalised with the last kick of regular time, before the part-timers completed one of the greatest upsets in Australian club football history with a 98th minute winner.

Only once, prior to this week, had an A-League club lost against lower league opposition, yet both Adelaide and Central Coast Mariners have been added to that list within the space of 24 hours.

Redlands United, who were formed in 1918, lined up with a side featuring office workers, students and tradies, with match-winner Paul O'Brien earning his keep as an electrician.

Adelaide, in contrast, won the A-League just three months ago in front of 50,000 fans and are coached by Spain and Barcelona legend Guillermo Amor.

"I told the players to believe in themselves, be brave and they were," said victorious Redlands coach Matt Chandler.

"I'm incredibly proud of the players, and it is a fantastic night for the football club."

The Round of 32 will conclude next Wednesday with the matchday highlighted by an all A-League contest between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory, while former national champions Wollongong Wolves will host Sydney FC.
