Strugglers face off at AAMI Park

Harry Kewell will play his first home game for Melbourne Heart as coach John Aloisi searches desperately for three points to kick-start their A-League season.

Winless since February, Aloisi's men host Adelaide United on Sunday at AAMI Park and are determined to snap their run.

In the way stands Josep Gombao's tiki-taka types from Adelaide, fresh from a drubbing of their own.

Boasting the highest average possession figure (60 per cent) and the best passing accuracy (82 per cent), the Reds couldn't find a goal despite periods of domination against Victory last weekend, losing 3-0.

Full-back Cassio is the only loss from that side which should otherwise remain unchanged.

For Heart, Kewell's return gives Aloisi a chance to again shuffle his forward structure in search of goals.

They've scored just three this season although a six-hour goal-less run was broken against Newcastle last week with a healthy deflection.

Kewell returns after neck and ankle injuries ruled out the mercurial forward for seven games.

The man to miss out could be Iain Ramsay, an off-season signing from the Reds, who sounded the battle cry this week.

"We're definitely playing for the coaching staff, mainly for them, for each other as well," he said.

Ramsay wasn't the only one digging in, as the club attempts to swing support behind the embattled Aloisi.

Chief executive Scott Munn sent an online letter to the fans this week pointedly urging loyalty and unity.

On the same day, Aloisi released a members-only video where he spoked of his determination to recover the Heart's season.

Three weeks ago Munn said the next three games were "really important".

With the first two producing defeats, a miserable home loss to Sydney FC and a scolding by the Adam Taggart-inspired Jets, it's hard to avoid concluding this is the biggest match of John Aloisi's fledgling coaching career.

If boos again follow the final whistle, expect the board to hear them.
