Kewell set for Melbourne Heart
Former Liverpool and Leeds United striker Harry Kewell is set for a sensational A-League comeback with Australian club Melbourne Heart.
The 34-year-old has been wandering the football wilderness after leaving Heart’s cross-town rival Melbourne Victory last year for family reasons.
And since departing the Victory, Kewell has been linked with a number of clubs in England and abroad, but nothing eventuated until he took up a short stint with Qatari club Al-Gharafa.
But with one eye still on making the Australian national team as the Socceroos look to qualify for the World Cup, a return to Melbourne and the Heart could be on the cards.
"We are keen to sign him, but no deal has been done," Heart CEO Scott Munn said.
"I'd be lying if I said (coach) John Aloisi hadn't spoken to him, but he spoke to several players while in Europe.
"We believe he'd be a fantastic addition and we need players with a winner's mentality."
