Match Commentary

90'
Positives from the game saw Defoe look bright and dangerous, Rooney clever and strong and Carragher - probably England's best performer on the night - solid and reliable. Terry and Woodgate were also comfortable. On the other hand, Alan Thompson will not play for England again. Sweden's threats came from Ibrahimovic and the man of the match for me Kim Kallstrom. Both sides will have to do better this summer if they plan to get further than the group stages.

A generally frustrating game to watch was ultimately won by the team that took its chance. England had more clear openings but Sweden were the more clinical in front of goal. The usual raft of substitutions from both sides only served to compound the disjointed nature of the match

Final whistle brings to an end a lacklustre match. 1-0 the final score and Sweden's fantastic record against England continues.
