Patrice Evra aims to play on 'for some years' after returning to full fitness

Patrice Evra has told Canal Plus he can "still play for some years" after scoring the winner for Marseille against Nice on Sunday.

Evra, 35, joined Marseille from Juventus in January and after initially being used sparingly by coach Rudi Garcia has started the last five league games.

The former Manchester United defender told Canal Plus he wanted to carry on playing next season and beyond.

"I think that when I am done, I will raise my hand and stop my career. But I know I can still play for some years," he said.

"When I'm 100 percent, there's no problem. I think I was a little stupid to play my first few games with Marseille when I was injured.

"You can't play on one leg in Ligue 1. It [his recent run of games] is the first time I have felt 100 percent, and you could see that.

"I had a very difficult time to deal with. I couldn't give the best of myself, and that's why I was frustrated."

Evra had been criticised for some pundits for his performances since the turn of the year, and celebrated his goal with a series of press-ups as part of his response to those critics.

"It was to show that I'm ready physically," the former France international said.
