Marseille owner committed to club's wellbeing despite sale

Marseille owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus has warned that selling the club to responsible investors will take time.

In April, Louis-Dreyfus, 54, announced she was putting the club up for sale and last month she appointed a new president and sporting director.

The latter, Gunter Jacob, has already been busy securing the signings of Bafetimbi Gomis and Florian Thauvin but there has been little concrete news about the sale process.

Louis-Dreyfus, who took charge of the club after her husband Robert died of leukaemia in 2009, addressed those concerns on Thursday.

"We're reading a lot of things about the club," she said during a rare appearance at a news conference. "Some of it is true and some of it is not."

She said she had called the news conference to reassure fans worried about her commitment following the decision to sell the club.

"That doesn't mean to say that I've stopped taking care of my club," Louis-Dreyfus said. "The handover process is well underway, entrusted to a team of professionals.

"My priority is not profit but to find a new owner with a solid long-term project.

"Potential buyers are taking a huge amount of time to analyse the complexity of the club.

"I don't know how much time it will take but I will make every effort to get there. And I will get there."

Marseille, the 2010 French champions, finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season.
