Manchester United injury crisis eases as Martial, Matic, Herrera in line for Arsenal return - Solskjaer

MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United's injury crisis has eased ahead of their crucial clash with Arsenal on Sunday, according to caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United saw off Paris Saint-Germain without 10 senior player to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Wednesday night. But Solskjaer will welcome back Paul Pogba from suspension while Anthony Martial is set to return after five games out with a hamstring injury.

Midfielders Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic could also make comebacks at the Emirates for the match that sees two of the teams battling for a top four finish go head-to-head.

"Anthony will be available," Solskjaer, who has won 14 of his 17 games in charge, told a news conference on Friday. "Eric [Bailly is fine]. Hopefully Nemanja and or Ander will be available.

"They just need to have another couple of days training with the team. They've done well in their recovery work."

The club posted pictures of some of the injured players back in training on their official Twitter page.

United became the first team to progress in the Champions League after losing the first leg 2-0 at home. It sparked wild celebrations in the away dressing room at the Parc des Princes but Solskjaer said there will be no hangover against Arsenal.

Unai Emery's side, who lost 3-1 to Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday night, are one point behind United in fifth with nine games to play.

"There will be no problem whatsoever," Solskjaer said. "We've gone through to the quarterfinals, which is what we expect from Man United.

"It was the way that it happened. The celebrations at the end are just what happens when you win like that. Arsenal is a fantastic game to get yourselves ready for."

Sources have told ESPN FC that Solskjaer is all but certain to be named permanent manager after winning 14 of his 17 matches in charge to guide United into the top four and the quarterfinals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

The ex-United forward said he is planning for next season but has not yet been offered the job on a full-time basis.

However, he said he and the club are planning for the long-term.

"Preseason we've looked into but also you look at players and hopefully the ones the club will sign will stay for many, many years," Solskjaer said. "I love managing these boys and I love working here but as I've said so many times I'm just doing the best I can every single day and if it comes to a decision to be made we've got to think about that."

The 46-year-old also sought to clarify the issue with his contract after it was revealed he would have to renegotiate terms with Molde if he headed back to his former club at the end of the season.

"I'm not here to get excited," he said. "I'm here to do my job.

"That contract issue, you cannot have two contracts as a manager so that contract [with Molde] was terminated and I'm contracted to Man United until the end of June."
