David Beckham watched his first Salford City match since becoming the latest former Manchester United player to invest in the non-league club, taking a 10 percent stake alongside Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers.
National League side Salford are one step away from the Football League after winning three promotions in four years since being taken over by the Class of 92 and Singapore businessman Peter Lim in 2014.
However, the former England captain's presence at the Peninsula Stadium could not inspire them to victory and they lost 3-1 to Dover.

Beckham is also joint-owner of Inter Miami CF, who will play in Major League Soccer in 2020.
The LA Galaxy recently announced they will unveil a statue of Beckham at Dignity Health Sports Park prior to the team's season opener against the Chicago Fire on March 2.
The statue, which came to light in a mailing to Galaxy season-ticket holders, is believed to be the first such honor bestowed by a Major League Soccer club on a player. It will be positioned near the main entrance to the venue, which has served as the Galaxy's home since 2003. Beckham, who made 122 appearances for Galaxy, winning two MLS Cups and two Supporters Shield crowns, is expected to attend the unveiling.
